Update from Norway - Transformations II Premiere in November 2001
Alistair Petrie, Director of International Operations for The Sentinel Group, sends this extraordinary short email update from Norway.
The premiere showing of the Transformations II video was exceptional. The venue was packed in both the gallery as well as on the main floor. There was a powerful response from the people. The pastors then publicly prayed a covenant with each other towards their future work and relationship in the city and the nation. A representative of the Prime Minister was present - she is Elsa Skarbovik, a member of Parliament who has responsibility in the areas of church and education. She was thrilled with the evening and will arrange a meeting for George and myself with the Prime Minister when we are able to make a return visit. She told me that the Norwegian government has public prayer and Bible study every morning.
Interestingly, the crown Prince of Norway recently said that there are two men in the world he honours - his Grandfather, who was a devout Christian, and Jesus Christ! He said this publicly!
What is particularly interesting about Norway is that a significant season of Revival was experienced under a young revivalist by the name of Hans Nielsen Hauge (1771 - 1824). 1804 is especially regarded as a profound year in which the move of God impacted the nation, much more so than 1910. He was imprisoned several times for preaching the Gospel and challenging the state Church! He was also imprisoned in Tonsberg - one of the few places that did not experience transformation - and this was the venue of our seminar and premiere. Interesting! The Revival affected most of the nation for several years - except Tonsberg!
